The 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase, held at Strafford Sports Center on Sunday August 16th, was a huge success and overall a great experience for the players and their respective families! We saw a lot of great players from the area do their thing, with a good portion of the games being very competitive, particularly on the high school side. And now, we get to write about each of the players.
Here, we take a look at some of the younger players on the boys side. This will be one of several parts we will be publishing over the coming days.
Aidan Yung, 2025 Southern Boone, 6’2 – Yung is very physically developed for his age. Atypical for a player his height and age, he is strong and filled out, attributes that helped him dominate the glass on both ends. He is an aggressive player who chases hard after rebounds and loose balls, and as he continues to develop his perimeter game, he has a great future on the basketball court.
Tayshaun Wells, 2025 Jarrett, 5’3 – Wells has great ball handling skills, quick with the ball and can get to the rim. He can also knock it down from 3 point land. A developing offensive talent who will be one to watch the next few years. Also very good at crashing the offensive boards, he reads where the shot will come off and gets there before anyone else does.
Gage Guerin, 2024 Marionville, 5’5 – Guerin is a smart point guard with good handles and the ability to control the pace of the game as needed. A player that coaches can put on the floor and have the confidence that he will make the right play most of the time. A great defensive player as well, can get right up on his man to apply pressure and not get beat off the dribble.
Ethan Scheetz, 2024 Niangua, 5’11 – Scheetz got high marks for his quick feet, especially on defense. With his size and quickness, he can guard anyone, anywhere on the court. Also made his mark as a reliable rebounder. He is also strong enough to score inside against contact and can knock down the 3 when the defense backs off and plays for the drive, which he is also adept at.
Payton McDaris, 2025 Norwood, 5’7– McDaris is an intelligent, coachable player who knows when to make his mark on the game, whether looking to score or to set up his teammates. He was lauded for his ability to score at all three levels. On the other end, he relishes the challenge of defending the other team’s best scorer.
Owen Kuchar, 2024 Rolla, 5’5 – Kuchar is a scrappy competitor with good composure on the court, always gives 100%. Was lauded for his consistency and for never getting sped up against pressure. He has a good 3 point shot but can also get inside on the dribble drive and score over taller players.
Tyler Cater, 2024 Westport, 5’10 – Cater is a strong, aggressive player who can get shots up in traffic. A good athlete, which also serves him well on the defensive end. He has a quick first step to the basket off the dribble and can make the big basket when his team needs it. Coaches loves the grit he brings.
Kohen Abramovitz, 2024 Aurora, 5’7 – Abramovitz is a lights out shooter from behind the arc, and his range does not stop at the 3 point line. He has great strength as a guard which helps him as a shooter and a ball handler and is a very smart basketball player which is obvious to anyone who watches him play the game and is extremely quick which makes him a tough match up.
