GIRLS 2022, 2023 PLAYERS
LEBANON, Mo. — The inaugural SWMO Basketball Future 50 Showcase brought together many of the region’s top players last Sunday at Lebanon High. Here is a look at the Class of 2022-23 players at the event. The players are listed by the team they played on and their jersey number.
Team E — IRON GREY
2 — Jamison Cromer, Conway, 2022
Cromer doubles as a solid ball handler and defender up top. She has a lot of practice with the ball, and she has little trouble bringing it up the floor. She makes good decisions with the ball and she practices pushing it forward and getting the ball to the wing. Like her sister, she can also score when she has the look and is in the zone.
4 — Graceson Cromer, Conway, 2022
Cromer is good at being a leader when none expect it. She plays like she has the weight of the team on her shoulders and she doesn’t want to let anyone down. She can score, play defense and protect the ball. She hustles on defense and can be found mixing it up in the paint when a shot goes up.
5 — Elle Turner, Camdenton, 2022
A good shooter from deep who doesn’t mind letting it fly from the parking lot. Turner took shots from a few feet behind the 3-point line. She has the strength for it. Most players lose their legs shooting from that distance, but Turner continued to play a solid pace. She brings good energy and unselfish play to the floor.
6 — Maggie Hayes, Bradleyville, 2022
Hayes enjoys taking on the most talented player on the opposing team. She is a solid defender, a person who can force players to use their weak hands and score on the other side because of it. She gets in the face of opponents and can slowly get in their head. It’s no surprise Hayes goes to Bradleyville. She hustles when she’s on the floor and can do whatever is needed.
7 — Haylee Humphrey, Iberia, 2022
A player who can play all the guard positions and play them well. Humphrey earns her stripes by staying active and available. She moves well off the ball, rubs shoulders when she comes off screens in search of a look. She can handle the ball at times and is willing to guard players taller than her as well.
8 — Raegan McCowan, Lebanon, 2023
An impressive player who was in the running for the co-MVP award, McCowan gets it done on both sides of the floor. She has a great frame and the potential to be an important player for Lebanon’s program. She enjoys the game. It’s obvious she works on her game and is always looking for a chance to showcase a post move on the block. Good things in store for McCowan.
9 — Harleigh Hodges, Taneyville, 2023
Hodges can score in bunches when she takes a breath and collects herself before she shoots. She has a good shot, but she can rush it when the pace of the game picks up. She can play good down low, someone who follows her shot and gets physical when the game calls for it. Also played hard on defense. She kept a hand up and made it hard for opponents to shoot.
Team G — WHITE
2 — Harper Rollins, Iberia, 2022
Rollins is an intelligent point guard who likes to keep her team involved. She is a pass-first player who looks ahead to those running the lanes. She plays quick and without mercy. She jumps up on defense and has good hands. She also has nose of open paths and can create buckets in transition. A good player who gets a lot out of a press.
3 — Miranda Moss, Richland, 2022
Moss is a player that can fill out several positions. She’s capable of backing up a defender and scoring a few buckets close to the basket. She can also move off the ball, set screens and defend. Moss fought for position under the basket and was rewarded for her effort throughout the day.
4 — Madyson Majors, Nevada, 2023
A solid guard who has good ideas. Majors took chances on defense and caused trouble at times for opponents. She is good with the ball in her hands. She can shoot from a distance and make buckets in a crowd. Majors also moves well off the ball, she pops off screens and is always ready to do something when she catches the ball.
5 — Kennedy DeRuy, St Peters, 2022
DeRuy held her own on the court, a defensive-minded player who can also do well on offense. She is a good team player, someone who encourages other players to shoot and is positive when her team is looking for an answer. She can do things on her own, but DeRuy fits nicely when she makes extra passes and looks to include others. A good player to have on a roster.
6 — Tyler Conkright, Ellington, 2022
Conkright is excellent at setting screens and rolling to the basket. She has a good feel for the floor, someone who knows where the ball is and where to go off a screen. She can finish near the basket and make jumpers. That said, it’s the little things she does that make the biggest impact. She hustles when others walk and fights hard around the basket.
7 — Laney Halley, Iberia, 2023
A traditional post player who can score if she’s close to the basket. She has a good number of post moves, some when she’s facing the basket and some when she’s not. She defends post players well and her height gives her an edge against other players around the basket. Halley could be difficult to stop if she stays in the gym works on her footwork.
8 — Khloe Moad, Ash Grove, 2022
A tall and thin forward who can rebound, score near the basket and kick off her team’s fast breaks. She has long arms, good for block shots and keeping a hand in her opponent’s face. She helped her team stay in the hunt by sacrificing herself and coming up big with defenders around her. Moad is also good at getting back on defense guarding the basket.
9 — Macy Sanders, Ozarks, 2023
Sanders had good spacing and never crowded the ball on offense. She kept her distance and ran the motion offense. Sanders can shoot if she has a look and can handle the ball well when she had it. She puts forth effort in the paint and can pick off passes and apply tough pressure on defense. A hard worker overall.
