The 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase, held at Strafford Sports Center on Sunday August 16th, was a huge success and overall a great experience for the players and their respective families! We saw a lot of great players from the area do their thing, with a good portion of the games being very competitive, particularly on the high school side. And now, we get to write about each of the players.
Here, we take a look at some of the younger players on the girls side. This will be the first of several parts we will be publishing over the coming days.
Ashtyn Calloway, 2024 Niangua, 5’8 – Calloway is a smooth post, who can also score from the outside. She is strong for her size and age which helps her rebound and score inside. Also can finish well in transition.
Allison Scott, 2025 Cherokee, 5’8 – With her great inside moves, Scott makes for a nice post player who seemingly made every shot around the basket. She is very coachable and also a great rebounder. Has a good future, especially with improved perimeter skills.
Beclynn Garrett, 2025 Neosho, 5’8 – Garrett made an impression with her high motor and athletic ability, a combo which makes her a great defender. She plays mostly on the wing and has very good size for an up and coming perimeter player. Finishes well around the rim with either hand.
Lauren Turner, 2025 Diamond, 5’6 – “Smooth” is a word we heard often about Turner. She is a natural scorer who uses her athletic ability to get to where she wants to go and has good hands on defense. Also cited for having a high basketball IQ. Plays well beyond her age, definitely one to watch for.
Brooklyn Adney, 2025 Strafford, 5’0 – Don’t let her size fool you. Adney was one of the better perimeter shooters and scorers we saw in this age group. She is very quick with the ball and very confident in herself, both of which will take her far as she gets older. A pest on defense as well.
Emma Daniels, 2024 Owensville, 5’6 – Daniels made a huge impression with her superb all around skills and played well beyond her age. She constantly came up with steals, dove on the floor, knocked down 3’s, and played with the level of confidence and competitiveness that every aspiring great player needs to have. Very bright future and a name to remember.
Hadley Chowning, 2025 MV-Liberty, 5’2 – Chowning is a tough, fearless, hard-nosed player that every team needs. She finishes well on the break, brings it on the defensive end, and generally seems to be in the middle of the action a lot. Also was a good penetrator and knows how to shield the defender off with her body. High basketball IQ and will eventually help a high school team win a lot of games.
