The 2020 Future 50 Camp and Showcase, held at Strafford Sports Center on Sunday August 16th, was a huge success and overall a great experience for the players and their respective families! We saw a lot of great players from the area do their thing, with a good portion of the games being very competitive, particularly on the high school side. And now, we get to write about each of the players.
Here, we take a look at some of the younger players on the girls side. This is one of several parts we will be publishing over the coming days.
Alexis Shelton, 2024 Laquey, 5’6 – Shelton is a high energy player who goes hard. On the defensive end, she is relentless and makes her opponents work hard, and on the offensive end, she attacks the basket and pushes it in transition.
Quinncy Vestal, 2025 Conway, 5’7– Vestal got high marks for her tenacious defense, as she uses her athletic ability to affect shots around the rim. On the offensive end she is a solid ball handler and has a nice, accurate shot on the catch and shoot. Strong for her age.
Lydia Kemnitzer, 2025 St James, 5’3 – Kemnitzer is a standout who can flat out score, showing a lot of polished offensive skills for someone her age. She was accurate shooting 3’s off the dribble, or pump faking and then hitting the mid range shot. She has a great floater and can get all the way to the rim. She isn’t afraid of contact and is a floor general on the court. Handles the ball well and is a tenacious defender. Another fantastic up and coming player for the stellar St James program.
Aubrey Gorman, 2025 Licking, 5’4 – Gorman impressed with her speed and ball handling skills, a combo which enables her to get to the basket frequently. Unselfish and a willing passer who can set up her teammates.
Chloe Jones, 2026 Willow Springs, 5’0 – Jones was the only 2026 player at the camp and showed a lot of the same skills and moxie that her older sister Ashlyn has. She plays without fear and can get off nice floaters in traffic. Her quickness helps her get to her spot on the court. Can also shoot the 3 well, either on the catch and shoot or off the dribble. A skilled player who no doubt has a bright future.
Ashlynn Henry, 2025 MV-Liberty, 5’5– Henry is a high motor player and physically strong, a combo that enables her to play bigger than her size. She grabbed a lot of rebounds and is able to score through contact and also plow her way past drawn in defenders and kick it out to open shooters.
Kinley Keaton, 2025 Licking, 5’2 – Keaton is a fearless, hard-nosed aggressive guard who uses that plus her quickness and handles to attack the rim at will. Draws a lot of contact and gets to the foul line a lot, where she makes most of her opportunities. Her intangibles bodes well for her future at Licking.
Brooklyn Blanchard, 2024 Southwest, 5’5 – Blanchard is a solid all around player, attacks the rim aggressively and finds the open spots on the floor and knocks down open shots. She is fast and runs the floor well and a good ball handler.
