SPRINGFIELD — Here the staff of SWMOBasketball selects its all-tournament team for this year’s Pink & White tournament.
The all-tournament team is not official and is not affiliated with the tournament and was selected by the SWMOBasketball staff.
42 — Hayley Frank, 6’2, G/F, 2019, Strafford (pictured)
There’s not much we can say about Frank that hasn’t been said already – a Mizzou recruit, she’s the top player on the state’s top team and has been for most of her high school basketball career. Strafford has now won 95 straight games and again, it was Frank who helped lead the way at this year’s Pink & White, scoring 23 in the championship game against Mt Vernon. She has a smooth all-around game, capable of doing a little bit of everything at a high level, whether it’s shooting, passing, rebounding or bringing steady leadership to the floor.
12 — Cameron Call, 5’8, G, 2019, Mt Vernon
The Illinois State recruit had it all working at this year’s Pink & White, showcasing a smooth perimeter shooting stroke with terrific range well out beyond the arc with terrific form, balance and a quick release. Call has a strong, physical D1 frame and an all-around game as well to match her physical attributes. She is a lock down defender, capable of walling off opposing guards as they attempt to get around her and terrific anticipation and pushing them off their line, gets on the boards and sees the floor like a point guard. She twice scored 26 points in the tournament, both in the opening round and the semifinals.
21 — Bella Fontleroy, 6’1, G, 2022, Kickapoo
It’s tough to pick a standout from Kickapoo as they play so many players a bevy of minutes and spread the wealth so to speak, but Fontleroy was clutch, knocking down a game-winning free throw to help send the Lady Chiefs to the semifinals in the waning moments of a quarterfinal contest against Thayer, and she was key in the opening round win over Blue Eye. She is blessed with height, athleticism and a long, rangy frame that allows her to play even bigger than her listed 6’1 height and can do a little bit of everything, handles the ball well, is an unselfish player and can lead a team from a guard spot. She can make outside shots consistently and is content to play within the team concept, letting chances come to her.
22 — Kayley Frank, 5’8, G, 2019, Strafford
A College of the Ozarks recruit, Strafford guard Kayley Frank is a terrific all-around performer for the Lady Indians, capable of handling the ball, playing on the ball or off the ball, can shoot from the outside and gets to the basket well. Frank is a good rebounder, defender and sees the floor well, bringing an unselfish style of play to the floor and a willingness to share the ball and the spotlight.
3 — Jordyn Gault, 5’8, G, 2019, Logan-Rogersville
Gault is one of the area’s premier players and put together a big tournament for the Lady Wildcats. She is a well-rounded offensive player capable of doing a little bit of everything at a high level. She is a standout perimeter shooter who can knock down 3-pointers at a high clip, can handle the ball and free herself from defensive pressure and is strong driving the ball to the basket and finishing tough chances. Listed at 5’8, Gault plays much bigger using long arms, athleticism and a high basketball IQ to anticipate passes, rebounds and stay one step ahead of the game.
10 — Caitlin Hicks, 5’8, F, 2019, Mt Vernon
Hicks is an undersized forward who works hard in the paint and has a knack for scoring over and around bigger players. She has a soft shooting touch in the paint and outworks opponents on the boards, coming up with offensive rebounds and garbage baskets when her team needs her most. She likes playing out of the high post where she makes smart passes and finds open players, but can also put the ball on the floor and attack the basket as well.
15 — Jazzy Kirby, 5’6, G, 2021, Republic
Kirby brings elite speed and quickness to the basketball court and is tough for opponents to stay in front of when she decides to take it to the basket. She has a quick first step and  can use either hand around the basket and finishes tough chances in the lane. Kirby was one of several Republic players who put together a strong tournament as the Lady Tigers featured depth and a balanced line-up.
10 — Hannah Pinkston, 5’10, G/F, 2019, Glendale @HPinkston23
A Truman State commit, Glendale 2019 Hannah Pinkston is a versatile, skilled player who does a little bit of everything for her team. She has good size at 5’10 for a wing player and is comfortable posting up or handling the ball and playing on the perimeter. Pinkston can get on the boards and take a defensive rebound coast-to-coast for an easy bucket or hit an open teammate in transition. She showed the ability to knock down the 3 and her offensive performance helped keep Glendale close in several games throughout the weekend.
22 — Avylina Powell-Qualo, 5’7, F, 2019, Republic
Powell-Qualo is a strong, athletic player who plays much bigger than her listed height would suggest. She is a terrific rebounder, a tough defender and a versatile, well-rounded offensive player who can handle the ball, run the floor in transition and finish around the basket. Powell-Qualo can step out and knock down an outside shot and brings good leadership qualities to the floor as well.
15 — Angela Sorrell, 5’9, F, 2019, Thayer
A terrific athlete who runs and jumps well, senior guard Angela Sorrell is a terrific defender, is strong in the open court and can knock down outside shots. She is a strong rebounder who gets on the glass at both ends and can turn a steal into a quick lay-up at the other end of the court. She went for 19 in Thayer’s near upset win over Kickapoo in the second round, following a 17-point performance in the first round against Jonesboro.
22 — Julie Stone, 5’8, G, 2019, Thayer
Stone brings a calm demeanor and a high basketball IQ to the floor, armed with a diverse skill set and terrific leadership qualities. She plays with a big motor and is willing to dive on the floor for a loose ball or defend a bigger player in the post. Stone is a good ball handler and outside shooter, but her best attribute might be her playmaking and passing abilities. She sees the floor exceptionally well and can create scoring opportunities for teammates by driving, drawing the defense and making slick passes that the defense isn’t expecting. She went for 20 points as the Lady Bobcats nearly knocked off Kickapoo in the second round.
2 — Priscilla Williams, 6’3, G, 2020, Branson
Blessed with terrific size, length and athleticism, Williams is a guard capable of handling the ball, knocking down outside shots and can score in a variety of ways. She is a volume shooter and at times tries to do too much, but she is among the most talented players in the state. She is fast in the open court and can take the ball coast-to-coast, is able to step around players for easy scoop shots and has a short floater that she will use. Williams draws a lot of attention from opponents who send multiple defenders her way in attempt to slow her down.
